Welcome Walk 2024

Out & About Hikers will be hosting a "Welcome Walk" on Sunday 31st March. The walk is free to join, is a great opportunity to meet the club and venture into the Mournes.

Walk location: Slieve Roosley

Meeting location: Exchange Street Car Park Belfast or Leitrim Lodge

This is a good introduction to the Mournes and includes forest trails, quiet country lanes and the rolling hills of Roosley and Wee Roosley. While the hike is suitable for those with average fitness, some without previous experience of mountain hiking may find it a little challenging. The pace of the walk will ensure that the group stays together and no one is left behind.

Date: Sunday 31st March 2024

Start time: We will leave at 10:00 am sharp from Exchange Street Car Park, Belfast.

We will begin our walk at 11.00am sharp at Leitrim Lodge Carpark (Sandbank Rd, Newry BT34 5XX)

Key things about Out & About Hikers

We are an LGBT+ hiking group and welcome everyone to our hikes.

We walk all over Northern Ireland and beyond

We regularly arrange joint hikes and members’ trips away with our Dublin based sister club

 What to bring:

Waterproof walking boots, jacket and over-trousers

Gaiters and hiking poles are recommended

Lunch, snacks, water and a hot drink
